Release Policy
These magnificent birds cannot be released indoors nor can they be
released in heavy winds, fog or rain. They must also be released within
one hour before sunset depending upon the location of the ceremony and
the current season of the year. This helps to ensure their safe return
home before dark.
We
reserve the right to cancel a dove release in bad weather
ie, Thunder, Lightening, Tornado Advisories, Heavy Rain, High Winds,
Fog, Snow or Blizzards, A refund (less deposit) will be issued.
We cannot guarantee exactly what
the doves will do after they are released. The birds
will always fly up into the air, after their release, but they may disappear
very quickly or they may circle around many times before flying away.
If you choose to release the doves by
hand versus a basket release; You will not hold us responsible
for any damage incurred by the doves to your (clothing) apparel, caused
by an accidental bowel movement. Nor will there be any liability for
any inconvenience occurred during your ceremony by the accident. We
have never had this happen, but normal body functions can occur.
Release of the doves will be cancelled
without a refund if there is an event delay and dusk or night approaches,
as they do not fly at night. We arrive at least 20 minutes before the
scheduled release time and allow 30 minutes for delay. If you go beyond
this grace period, you will be charged an overtime rate of $35.00 per
1/2 hour or any portion there of, payable at the time of the release.
From time to time, we may have a photographer
present to photograph our release for advertising purposes.
You agree by signing this booking form, to allow us to use any photos
taken by us, in our advertising. In exchange for this permission, we
will provide you with one copy of any photo that you ask for. We will
hold exclusive copyrights to the photos.
Are
they pigeons, or are they doves? The common pigeon is
actually a type of dove known as the "Rock Dove". So technically
speaking, the birds used in releases are doves. However, there is a
huge difference between the white doves used in releases and regular
doves.
**IMPORTANT** The ONLY type of birds that should be used for dove releases
are well trained white RACING PIGEONS!!!
These Dove Pigeons
have been bred for generations for their ability to fly home from distances
of up to 600 miles. Beware of unethical businesses that
use the smaller white "Ring Neck" doves for release. These
are the doves you will often find in pet stores for under $20 dollars.
Not only can they not find their way home, they cannot really fly more
that a few feet! Any bird other than a racing pigeon will die when released
into the wild, including white pigeons purchased from poultry farms.
Can I release them myself,
or is it better to have a release coordinator? While
it is possible for anyone to open a box and let the birds go, having
an experienced professional who is good at what they do at your event
will very much enhance the most special day of your life. There is much
more to this than simply showing up and opening the lid.... there is
an "art" to it. Only experienced professionals understand
bird behavior, timing, and what it takes to seperate the "ho hum"
release from the phenominal release! |
